Why we started Plantiful.
Plantiful started with a question David Turer kept circling back to: how could he help make the world a greener place? With a background in finance and operations across industries like chemicals, industrials, marketing, and SaaS, he knew what he was good at — helping businesses run better, sell more, and grow faster. The answer came from looking closely at how plants make their way to your backyard: a supply chain of skilled, passionate people running their businesses on thin margins with decades-old tools and practices. Better software could mean healthier businesses, more plants in the ground, and a greener planet.
In the summer of 2022, David Turer and David Heller — a second-time founder with a background in startups, military intelligence technology, and eCommerce price optimization tools — founded Plantiful together. Both Davids saw the same thing: an overlooked industry that quietly feeds the greener planet everyone says they want, and a chance to help it grow the way it helps the world grow.
The two Davids built Plantiful on hundreds of conversations with growers, wholesalers, and retailers across the plant supply chain — operations of every shape and size, every crop and every corner of the country. That's still how Plantiful gets built today: in the field, in the greenhouse, on the loading dock, with the people doing the work.
